This house was designed from the outside in,  to embrace its 270º sweep of views that are second to none on the East Coast.  These wrap-around views are viewed through wrap-around walls of octagonal windowscaping, often providing a full 180º sweep of every angle visible from each space’s interior.

The program was relatively simple:  a four-bedroom, three-bath house with a separately accessed home office and a “bonus room” over the three-car garage.  In the main living area, a level change facilitated a full twelve-foot ceiling height to allow an unrestricted view.  A large deck extends the living space out into the landscape making the inside/outside integration more than just visual, and the master suite is extended by a walk-out deck integrated with the social deck below via its own octagonal shape and columns.

With so much glass facing so many views in a windswept zone of often horizontally driven salt water, the potential wear and tear on the house is extreme.  For that reason, virtually every window has a roof or rooflet directly over it to protect against overheating, solar decay, and water intrusion to the maximum extent possible.
