As “Contributing Editor for Home Design” for Money Magazine Duo will be executing one article a month about home design projects for Money Magazine – typically on a relatively small scale. Projects included in the magazine will be viewed by 7 million non-architects. The credits are on page, although small, but if someone likes what they see, they’ll be able to find your name and, of course, if they contact the magazine Duo will make sure your name is given directly to them ASAP.
Duo is presently looking for:
1.
Interior detailing as a way to make a house unique – this would involve trim, wainscoting, color, and materials, but not major architectural/structural changes. This would be a story about enhancements, not complete rethinking.
2.
Adding an in-ground pool where cost is king. If you have created an in-ground pool that was constructed for the minimum amount of money possible, the editors are interested in seeing the artful ways a pool can be added for the least amount of money.
3.
Fireplaces. Whether it’s gas, prefabricated firebox for wood, wood stove, or traditional masonry fireplace (Rumsford or other), we’d love to see your examples of insinuated/added on hearths.
4.
Front facade renovations - dramatic change from boring and predictable to amazing and fabulous front facade changeovers. This is an article about “curb appeal”, so we’ll really be dealing with the front facade only.
For each submittal, please send five or six low content JPEGs or equivalent format photos, as well as a completed . Realize this is a before and after series of articles, so we need existing shots and their complimentary corresponding after shots for all projects. Hitting the "submit" button on the questionnaire will automatically attach it to an e-mail to Duo and allow you to attach the photos that accompany it.
Do note that we need to have budgets and clients revealed - although the specific address of the client will not be in the article, the city will be. Although this probably limits the number of projects we’ll receive, the magazine really wants to make all these articles quite personalized and “real”, and thus the dollars, people, and locations become essential for publication.
